The land came into MIDC possession in 1995; the project has been notified as a multiproduct SEZ in October 2008.
Access: Proximity to Mumbai Howra rail line with nearest railway station, 15 Km away, at Badnera on the central main line; it connects with Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, etc.
Road connectivity: National connectivity through Surat Nagpur - Kolkata NH-6, connecting Mumbai via NH-3. Major cities like Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai & Bangalore are well connected. Regional connectivity to major towns & cities of Nagpur, Pune, Aurangabad, Chandrapur,Wardha and Akola.

Nearest Airport: Nearest Airport is Nagpur (155 km) with direct flight to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Raipur. Airstrip at Belora (18 km) is operational for small planes. Proposed domestic airport is close to EMGC site.
Nearest Seaport: Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP), Mumbai. Other than JNP, the other ports, which can be considered, include Chennai, Ennore and Visakhapatnam.
Water supply & Infrastructure: Upper Wardha dam built across Wardha River (38 km)
with 10% (54.8 MCM/year)
allocated for industrial use in Vidarbha Region includling Amravati. There is also 25 MLD Water Treatment Plant close by.
Power Supply: 33/11 KV line from Kondeswar Substation. Proposed power supply corridor from the existing 220/133KV MSEB HT line. In addition, MIDC is planning a Power SEZ near Bhadravathi (1000MW) to facilitate uninterrupted power supply. |
